Yesterday, I had been feeling pretty good about myself, spending the day in the park, when T___ brought up that I had said the phrase, "I would lower the stars and raise the earth" to S___ many months ago.  Has it really been two years?  What has happened to her?  Have I become the feckless bohemian I've so derided?

I should like to see S___ again and apologize, but she (like so many others) has wandered off with no forwarding address.  Such is endemic to these communes, as I am growing painfully aware.

Last night, benzene and the 'red leaves' technique -- too immediate, not long enough to be satisfying and (as a result) actually deferred sleep.

(Is this a public or private journal? I want to comment but I'm not sure if I should.)

I've never been particularly pleased with the 'red leaves' technique by itself; it's finest in combination with certain other debaucheries I'm fond of. Next time, you should try it with the 'green leaves' technique, or the 'blue leaves' technique, or, if you're feeling exceptionally ambitious, all three.

Have you been irradiating the benzene?

Aheh. No. I worry that I succumb to routine too easily, and thus I have been taking pains to try different things. It makes me happy to complain about what displeases me, I should suppose.

Oh ho! Different things, you say? Might I propose you join one of the Zip Megaraces? There's one coming up not too far from now, and as usual, the line up has an pretty even spread of top speed ranging from about zero to about C. One of the tien-lung from Star City is going to be in it; maybe you could meet him.

I've never seen this contest. I thought the Zips had fallen out of fashion. Contests of skill do interest me, somewhat. This sport does strike me as one of the puerile endeavors you would try, a thought which amuses me.

They went through a bit of a schism, but they remain. They're not as competitive as they used to be, a lot of ex-Bonobians joined up and mellowed them. Why do you think the race has such a speed spread? Their faction leader is a snail - they're more about the thrill of speed than winning races. The race is just an excuse to go as fast as you can.
