Gender dimorphism in animalia is rare but not unknown. I'm told in some sophontic mammals it can be as high as one in twenty-thousand.  Most dimorphs in the higher orders are not reproductively viable -- too many spices in the broth, as it were -- which explains why they haven't crowded out all other sexes.  I would say that these "herm havens" have greater demonstrativeness of amorous displays, but my evidence is only anecdotal.  As I write this, I consider that once one has rendered the conundra of what gender one is and what gender one seeks moot by having all at one's disposal, one would see a lot more displays of affection both demure and vulgar, especially in a serraglio reknowned for such mélange de ménage.

Germane to this topic (pun intended) is the compulsion for reproduction.  In this post-fittest environment, the accidental combination of the self-sufficient organism is hardly left to chance.  I have met more than one person who has actually boasted of their reproductive prowess.  I should suppose the impulse to reproduce is inextricable from the impulse for climax, yet it carries far more emotional baggage.  As I have become more worldly, I am no longer surprised at what some find to be a compelling fetish, nor at what some sybarites pursue to a degree of distasteful monomania. I suppose if one has the means, then one is more than free to sire children.  As much as I should like to carry the mandate of heaven, my office only goes so far.
